If you’ve looked at the weather app on your phone, you’ll see that we are in for a wet and dreary weekend. It’s definitely no fun walking to class in this rain, and the feeling of your clothes sticking to you is as bad as it gets.
However, just because the sky is crying, doesn’t mean that you should be crying. Rainy days have a certain magic that sunny days don’t, and there are many ways to take advantage of that.
- Grab your rain boots and go find some choice puddles.
Don’t run from the rain; embrace it! There’s something oddly satisfying with jumping around in the rain. Revisit your childhood and splash around in the biggest puddles you can find! (However be courteous of those around you who don’t want to get wet. And don’t play in flood or running waters because you could be seriously hurt, or killed.)
2. Get busy in the kitchen.
Your roommates will thank you for this one. Bake classic sweet treats like cookies or brownies, or try something completely different and test out a new recipe. The aromas from your cooking will make your apartment more cozy and welcoming.
3. Make yourself at home with a book.
Nothing says rain day like a nice book. Start that series you’ve been putting off for years or re-read your favorite book for the 98th time. Pair that with a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate to really get the mood right.
4. Finally get around to cleaning your apartment.
You’ve been putting it off for days because you are just so busy during the day and too tired at night. Use this time to take care of your apartment. It won’t take as long as you think!
5. Binge-watch Netflix until the rain stops.
Rainy days are the perfect excuse to just sit at home and watch Netflix all day. Watch all 12 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy or that super-indie movie that you’ve been saying you’ll get around to, but never actually watch. Nothing beats sweats, snacks, and Netflix.
With the right attitude, rainy days might be the breath of fresh are you need. What other activities do you do on rainy days?
