It’s that time of the semester. Exams are coming, projects are starting, and students slowly begin to spend more and more time in Carrier or ECL.

If you’re looking to finish the semester strong, here are some tips for staying healthy during exam season.

  1. Sleep plenty

Adults are recommended to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night, according to the Huffington Post, but it’s easy to lose sleep during exams. Some students are proud of their all-night conquests, but a lack of sleep can be detrimental to your health. If you can’t get your full 8 hours, consider visiting the JMU Nap Nook for a quick nap during the day.

  1. Eat healthy snacks

Stay energized during Exam Season! It’s easy to fall into the habit of eating easily accessible food (i.e. fast food), but here are a list of snacks from BuzzFeed that can keep you healthy and happy over the next month.

  1. Visit the Oasis

Exams are stressful. If you need a place to rewind and take a breather, think of visiting The Oasis in SSC. It’s a self-care space with yoga mats, massage chairs, a relaxation guide, and more. Open from 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m on Monday through Friday, you can visit up to 2 hours per day with your JACard.

  1. Don’t be afraid to ask for help

Anxiety and stress during exam week is normal, but don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. You can make an appointment at the Counseling Center– which is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday– to speak to a counselor. There is also a counselor available for a crisis situation.
