Start brainstorming your sign ideas. College GameDay could be coming back to the ‘Burg.
According to a Tweet published by the Breeze on September 7, College GameDay has their eye on JMU.
Even more hopeful… College GameDay producer, Lee Fitting, is a JMU alum (’96) and tweeted this out in response to JMU GameDay’s Twitter last night.
JMU Football is currently ranked number 1 in the FCS with an undefeated record. The Dukes secured their first win of the season against the ECU Pirates 34-14 at ECU.
JMU then secured two home-field wins against ETSU and Norfolk State with a whopping total score of 52-10 and 75-14, respectively. With 161 points in only three games, the Dukes have proven their dominance in the FCS.
Last season’s National Championship title, an undefeated season and consistent domination, the Dukes deserve all the attention on the national stage.
Recently, WVU Football head coach, Dana Holgorsen stated, “James Madison could beat about anybody in the country right now.”
When College GameDay visited JMU on October 24, 2015, the Dukes did not disappoint. An estimated crowd of 12,000 people swarmed the picturesque Quad on JMU’s campus in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.
According to a USA Today Article published after College GameDay’s visit to JMU, host Rece Davis said, “I can’t imagine a more intense, more in tune crowd than we had here.”
In the opening credits for College GameDay, the host announced, “James Madison, Father of the Constitution and mother of College GameDay crowds.”
So far, the announcement of JMU being on the radar for College GameDay has campus erupting in anticipation for the best sports day of the entire year. A Twitter account was made with the sole purpose of creating a social media frenzy to grab College GameDay’s attention for the second time in two years.
It’s not unusual for College GameDay to visit the same FCS school more than once. North Dakota State (pummeled in the FCS Champ semifinals last year by JMU – ending their five-year streak for a Championship run), hosted College GameDay back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014.
JMU’s National Championship win, unbelievably spirited fan base, and picturesque setting with the promise of a massive, hyped-up crowd, makes us the obvious choice for College GameDay.
GameDay, we hope to see you back in the ‘Burg October 14 for a record-breaking crowd supporting JMU Football.
