This Wednesday morning, the College GameDay crew arrived bright and early on the Quad to begin setting up the stage for the biggest GameDay of the year.
On Sunday, College GameDay announced their return to JMU, the second time in three years. Here is everything you need to know about College GameDay returning to campus this week:
When does the orange bus arrive?
The famous orange bus is set to arrive in front of Wilson Hall at 5:30pm this Thursday. In 2015, the bus was greeted by a mass of students decked out in purple and gold, still to this day known as the best greeting of the GameDay bus in the show’s history.
When does the coverage begin?
If you’re looking for your 15 seconds of fame, plan to be on the Quad Friday afternoon, as the GameDay crew will have finished the completion of the GameDay set in time for Friday’s “College Football Live” pregame show. The show is set to air at 3 p.m, but plan to be on the Quad early! Starting at noon, students will be able to line up to claim their spot in the 500 person pit. In 2015, GameDay hosts called it “the best Friday crowd for CFB Live that we’ve ever seen,” according to College GameDay’s Twitter.
Also on Friday, College GameDay is giving away 2 backstage passes and VIP meet and greets to the winners of a cornhole tournament Friday on the Quad. There are only 64 spots available and partners should sign up on the Facebook page.
When should I get to the Quad?
In order to get the best seat in the house, be prepared to camp out overnight on the Quad to claim your front row seat. If you’re not into camping, arrive at the Quad early enough to get your spot. The first 500 students in line with a valid JAC card who are wearing purple will be given wristbands at 5:30 a.m. to enter the pit beginning at 6:30 a.m. If you’re not into the pit either, DJ Mac is set to perform pregame entertainment beginning at 7 a.m. No bags are allowed in the pit.
What time does the show start?
College GameDay is broadcasting LIVE on ESPN from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Start brainstorming those sign ideas. The best signs get posted on College GameDay’s Twitter and Facebook accounts!
When can I start tailgating?
After the show, head to one of JMU’s designated tailgate lots to continue the fun. Lots open 4 hours before kickoff. Just remember: tailgating on game day is only permitted in parking lots at approved times. Tailgating and coolers of any kind will not be permitted on the Quad.
When is the game?
The undefeated Dukes kickoff against Villanova at 3:30 p.m. in Bridgeforth Stadium. Head to the Bookstore for an official GameDay T-shirt. The game is a white-out!
How can I get a ticket?
Student tickets for Saturday’s game against Villanova are SOLD OUT! However, any students who plan to not use their ticket are encouraged to notify the JMU Ticket Office so the ticket can be given to another student through a lottery system. Any students without a ticket can enter the lottery to receive a ticket. The lottery will be pulled Thursday, October 12 at noon. Click here to enter.
How can I watch the game on TV?
If you weren’t able to secure a ticket for Saturday, you can watch the live game coverage on MASN2 and CBS Sports Digital.
Rece Davis still says JMU’s College GameDay was one of the best and challenged JMU nation to top that this Saturday, as did College GameDay’s official Twitter account.
Challenge accepted. Go, Dukes!
