Don’t miss out on the biggest thing to happen in Harrisonburg since College GameDay. The Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance will be hosting their annual Skeleton Festival, Tomorrow, October 21st, from 4-8 pm inside the Turner Pavilion. We went ahead and included a brief preview of what to know about the event.
4-6 PM: Trick-or-Treating & Good Eating
If you are trying to entertain a little one, pick up a Candy Map at the Visitor Center to see the list of all of the downtown businesses that will serve as trick-or-treat locations. Businesses marked with an orange balloon will be providing an assortment of savory treats to those who are bold, and young enough to partake.
If your squad does not include minors, have no fear! Skeleton Festival includes tons of awesome activities and food stations! Stop by one, or several of the booths including a caramel dipping station, a popcorn bar, not to mention a collection of local food trucks. Join your community members with activities such as scull/face painting, tarot readings, as well as a spider maze.
6-8 PM: All Ages Party at the Turner Pavilion
If you think you have a killer costume for this Halloween season, and can’t wait to wear it, the Skeleton Festival includes a costume contest for every age group. Do you think your pooch has what it takes to be crowned a winner? There will be a special category just for dogs. Match costumes with your dog in the contest for best combo costume! Register now to reserve your spot for the adult and/or the dog costume contest. Last minute sign-ups are offered the hour before the contest starts, from 5-6 pm.
Bring your glow-sticks, and come ready to rage as DJ Barkley will be the MC for this year’s dance party! To conclude the festival, there will be a Flash Dance Mob at 7 pm, followed by a performance from the Shenandoah Dance Contemporary Theater at 7:20 p.m.
The Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance is tasked with creating an interactive environment for past, present, and future community members. Come out tomorrow, and engage with fellow Dukes in support of our vibrant community!
